Josh SalyerVP of People Operations
Motivated by his passion for people and business, Josh believes he found the perfect career in Human Resources. Josh is the VP of People Operations where he is responsible for creating and executing world-class people strategies that supports WE values and mission — including HR Planning, Attraction & Acquisition, Talent Development, Engagement, and Performance Management. Josh grew up in a rural, small town in Eastern Kentucky that helped to shape his values, drive and overall approach to business. Josh is a coach and teacher at heart and he exhibits a hardworking attitude, extreme ownership and unmatched approachability to effectively partner with the businesses he supports. Josh began his journey in HR as an intern at Hyster-Yale forklift manufacturing company and then graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management. He is also a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certified by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).
His experience has shaped Josh to be a progressive HR leader, having worked at Hitachi Automotive, The Sherwin-Williams Company, Hyster-Yale, and Amazon. During his time with Amazon Customer Service, Josh led the HR function for numerous teams where his scope and responsibility increased four times in less than four years. Throughout his career, Josh has focused on building HR teams that strategically influence the business and set the stage for talent development. Josh has built a reputation for identifying top talent in the selection process and developing strong leaders. He also led HR for Amazon’s most engaged site in world-wide customer service. In his most recent role leading HR for Amazon’s virtual customer service team, Josh rebuilt and re-branded the HR organization as strategic thought-partners to the rapidly changing business.
Josh also works closely with our portfolio and partner companies to build scalable, flexible HR strategies and systems. His involvement often varies widely, from acting as their people strategy leader for a given time-period, to acting as a thought-partner and sharing his experience and previous learnings. Josh focuses on adding long-term value to partner companies by providing services or expertise that enhance their people strategies & employee experience. In addition, Josh also leads WE People Solutions- an internally built Professional Employer Organization (PEO) that offers HR strategy and payroll solutions for WE’s partnerships and portfolio investments.
